Cicada Rug

SKU 304215375135110

The Cicada is a very succinct story of buckling and breaking by powerful compressive forces that occurred on the eastern periphery of Australia 400 million years ago. The sweeping kidney shape or orogenic belt (hi viz yellow line) within the Cicada represents an area that would have originally been straight but has been twisted into its current shape by continental plate movement. Most of the ground here was made 300 million years ago (camel colour) with volcanic eruptions (bluish grey and apricot silk) punctuating the surface.
